Korean Leadership of IBF Looms
With Korea Badminton Association Chairman Young-joong Kang appearing to be the lone candidate for the President of the International Badminton Federation, Korea will most likely assume the leadership of international badminton. This was confirmed after the February 10 deadline for the registration of prospective candidates expired.
Chairman Young-joong Kang, who is also the concurrent president of the Asia Badminton Federation, will most likely become the president of the International Badminton Federation during the IBF General Meeting scheduled in May in Beijing, China. If this happens, Korea will now occupy four leadership positions in international athletic organizations. The other leaders include Yong-sung Park, chairman of the International Judo Federation (IJF), Jung-weon Cho, chairman of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), and Sang-ha Park, Chairman of the International Soft Tennis Federation (ISTF).
Chairman Young-joong Kang of Daekyo quickly earned raves when he became the president of the Korea Badminton Association and the chairman of the Asia Badminton Federation in 2003.
