Daekyo CEO Young-joong Kang named “CEO of the Year”
Young-joong Kang, chairman of the Daekyo Group, was named “CEO of the Year” for 2005.
The “CEO of the Year Award” is given each year by the Korea Management Association to the CEO with the most outstanding achievements and awards.
As the 37th recipient of such award, Chairman Kang is considered to have “pioneered the home-tutoring market” and “created Noonnoppi myth” with Daekyo’s establishment in 1975. He is credited with having engineered the company’s phenomenal rise into one of the most excellent enterprises with annual sales of KRW 1.2 trillion.
Experts also attribute Daekyo’s outstanding business performance to Chairman Kang’s unwavering commitment to ensuring superior quality and providing nonpareil customer services according to the customers’ “Noonnoppi” or eye level as well as personal beliefs related to success.
Refusing to rest on his laurels, Chairman Kang stresses the need to exert continuous efforts in practicing value-oriented, customer-oriented, and performance-oriented management as well as management based on reinforced changes. Based on these principles, he is intent on pursuing even more dramatic progress made possible through sustained growth in the education business sector, by launching new businesses with high growth potentials, and based on the application of business models guaranteed to create high value-added.
Chairman Kang is spearheading efforts of the Daekyo group toward globalization, seeking to join the ranks of the 30 largest business groups worldwide by year 2009. (2005.3.3)
