Daekyo Cultural Foundation Holds the 34th Noonoppi Education Awards Ceremony

The Daekyo Cultural Foundation announced on the 27th that it held the 34th Noonoppi Education Awards ceremony on the 26th at iLevel Hall in Daekyo Tower.

Established in 1992, the Noonoppi Education Award is the foundation’s flagship education support program and has been recognizing exemplary teachers who grow together with their students in educational settings. At this year’s ceremony, five teachers who have demonstrated dedication in the fields of elementary, secondary, early childhood, special education, and overseas Korean education were honored.

Director Kang In-ja was recognized for her contributions to enhancing the professionalism of daycare teachers and supporting their growth as leaders through a mentor?mentee program. Vice Principal Kwon Bo-young was highly praised for operating the nonprofit youth education organization Dream Springs, which supports students in need.

Ahn Kyung-sook, a special education teacher, was honored for running vocational education and employment support programs for students with disabilities and for presenting sustainable directions for maintaining employment for people with disabilities. Principal Oh Jin-hyun received recognition for expanding the local arts base by operating arts education programs open to participants ranging from elementary school students to adults.

Principal Choi Mi-young was acknowledged for establishing and operating Dasom Korean School, helping Korean-American students learn the Korean language, history, and culture and build their identity. She was also recognized for leading the spread of Korean culture by organizing history and culture camps for students in the U.S. who lack access to Korean language schools.

At the ceremony, domestic award recipients received 15 million won each in prize money along with a plaque, as well as educational equipment worth 5 million won. The overseas award recipient received a cash prize of USD 10,000.
